How to Donate and Country-Based Tax Details

First Step Georgia is a very unique charity as we have no overhead costs outside Georgia.  All fundraising and administration by First Step Georgia in Ireland and the UK, and by our affiliate in the USA, Georgian Foundation, is carried out by volunteers or pro bono by professionals.

Below is information about how to donate to First Step Georgia.  Many of our donors make contributions that are eligible for tax considerations in their country of residence.  We have broken down donation options by country, to help facilitate tax deduction eligibility.  In order to claim a tax credit, you need to donate to a charity registered in your tax home country.

FROM GEORGIA

You can donate directly to the First Step Georgia account located in Tbilisi, in your choice of currency - Euro, UK Sterling, US Dollars or Georgian Lari.

If you would like to donate directly to FSG in Georgia via Bank Transfer, please click here for transfer and account details.   

Please note that if you donate directly to the FSG account at TBC Bank via a Bank Transfer, you may not be able to claim a tax credit in your country of residence (Ireland, UK, US).

If you are a UK Tax Payer please donate to our UK Charity and complete the Gift Aid form which you can download from this web site. We can then get an extra 28 p on every £1 donated.

If you pay tax under the PAYE system please complete the CHY2 form which you can download from this web site. Depending on your tax bracket we can get an extra 20 cents or 41 cents  on every Euro donated.

If you pay tax in Ireland under the Self Assessment system you can claim a tax credit on your donation. We would ask that you tick the relevant box on the donation form and we will send you a letter confirming your donation for submission with your tax returns. For example on a donation of Euro 100, if you pay tax at 41% - you will get a tax credit of Euro 41 for every Euro 100 donated therefore the donation will actually have cost you Euro 59.

If a company pays Irish Corporation tax and makes a donation to First Step Georgia. The company can claim a deduction of the current corporation tax rate (currently 12.5%). For example if a company makes a donation of Euro 1000 to First Step Georgia the cost of the donation to the company will be Euro 875 (Euro 1000 – Euro 125)
